Auburndale girls basketball rolls past Iola-Scandinavia in opener

AUBURNDALE – Auburndale had a 13-2 run in the third quarter to open up a big lead and roll past Iola-Scandinavia 47-24 in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday at Auburndale High School.

The game was season-opener for both teams.

Auburndale led 24-12 at halftime before crushing the Thunderbirds with a dominating third quarter.

Brianna Meyer had 13 points and Paiton Richardson added 11 for the Apaches.

Auburndale opens its Marawood Conference South Division season Friday at Edgar.
