Spencer senior boys basketball player Jeremiah Cattanach has been voted as the WDLB-WOSQ Radio/MarshfieldAreaSports.com November High School Athlete of the Month.
The High School Athlete of the Month Award is sponsored by Marshfield Clinic and Burt Trophy & Awards.
Cattanach received more than 700 of the 1,200-plus votes cast during voting from Dec. 1-7 at MarshfieldAreaSports.com.
He helped the Rockets get off to a 2-0 start during November, scoring 20 points in a 51-38 win over Augusta on Nov. 21 and followed that up by scoring 17 points in a 77-51 rout of Greenwood on Nov. 26. He was 10 of 12 from the free throw line in the two wins.
Cattanach joins Spencer volleyball player Marisa Johnson (September) and the Marshfield boys soccer team (October) as winners of the monthly award during the 2013-14 school year.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Athens, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Marathon, Marshfield, Neillsville, Owen-Withee, Pittsville, Spencer, Stratford and Thorp.
Nominations should be e-mailed to MarshfieldAreaSports.com publisher Paul Lecker at paul@marshfieldareasports.com between the 15th through the end of each month. MarshfieldAreaSports.com will select up to a maximum of eight athletes each month for online voting.
Online voting will take place from Jan. 1-7 at MarshfieldAreaSports.com for the December award. The winner will be announced on Jan. 9 and will be presented an award from Burt Trophy & Awards.
