Spencer boys basketball wins at Granton

GRANTON – The Spencer boys basketball rebounded from its first loss of the season to whip Granton 73-45 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Tuesday night at Granton High School.

The Rockets improve to 3-1 overall and in the Cloverbelt East, sliding into a tie for second place in the conference standings along with Neillsville and Owen-Withee. Granton drops to 0-5 and 0-4 in the conference.

The game was tight at halftime, with the Rockets leading 25-23. Spencer then took care of business, outscoring the Bulldogs 22-8 in the third quarter and 48-22 overall in the second half.

Ten different Spencer players scored, led by Bobby Pilz, who had 11 points. Five other Rockets finished with eight points each.

Devin Klein had 13 points to top Granton.

Spencer hosts Loyal (1-3) on Friday night.
