Second-half spurt pushes Spencer girls basketball past Granton

GRANTON – The Spencer girls basketball team won its first Cloverbelt Conference East Division game of the season with a dominating second half.

Spencer outscored Granton 30-8 over the final 16 minutes and won 44-18 on Tuesday night at Granton High School.

Macie Weber scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Marisa Johnson had nine points and six steals for the Rockets (2-2 overall, 1-2 Cloverbelt East).

Spencer held Granton to just 17 percent shooting (6 of 35) and forced 19 turnovers in the victory.

Caley Leggate scored 10 points and Jessica Richmond had eight to account for all of the Bulldogs’ points.

The Rockets play at Loyal on Friday.
