Free-throw shooting lifts Stratford girls basketball past Edgar

EDGAR – Macie Frueh was 11 of 16 from the free throw line and scored a game-high 16 points to lift the Stratford girls basketball team to a 42-32 win over winless Edgar on Tuesday night at Edgar High School.

Stratford was 18 of 25 overall at the line to make up for a sluggish offensive effort that saw the Tigers shoot just 11 of 53 from the field. Edgar, on the other hand, was just 7 of 16 shooting free throws.

The Tigers outscored Edgar 10-0 in the second quarter to surge ahead 21-8 at halftime.

Casey Kolbeck added 10 points for Stratford (2-2 overall, 1-1 Marawood Conference South Division).

The Tigers host Wausau Newman Catholic on Friday night.
