Auburndale boys basketball whips Pittsville, improves to 6-0

PITTSVILLE – The Auburndale boys basketball team rolled to a 70-40 victory over Pittsville in a Marawood Conference South Division game Thursday night at Pittsville High School.

The Apaches remain undefeated and improve to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in the Marawood South. Pittsville is now 1-6 and 0-4 in the conference.

Auburndale is tied with Marathon for the Marawood South lead. Auburndale hosts Marathon on Jan. 7.

Auburndale led 19-8 after the first quarter and outscored the Panthers by 10 over the middle two quarters.

Blake Anderson had 20 points, hitting three 3-pointers, and Josh VanShoick added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Apaches.

Zach Staats added 10 points and Isaac Castellano chipped in eight points and seven assists for Auburndale.

Pittsville’s statistics were not provided.

The Apaches host Weyauwega-Fremont in a first-round matchup at the Auburndale Holiday Tournament on Dec. 27. Chetek-Weyerhauser plays Waupaca in the other semifinal with the losers and winners meeting up on Dec. 28.
