Wausau Newman Catholic too strong for Stratford girls basketball

STRATFORD – Wausau Newman Catholic started the game with a 20-5 run in the first quarter and went on to a 61-30 victory over Stratford in Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball action Friday night at Stratford High School.

Stratford was just 8 of 35 from the field in the loss and fall to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the Marawood South. Newman remains undefeated at 5-0 and 3-0 in the conference.

Madison Tubbs had 19 points and Abby Connolly added 12 for the Cardinals.

Casey Kolbeck scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds for Stratford.

The Tigers will play at the Lakeland Tournament on Dec. 27-28.
