ATHENS – Stratford’s Johnelle Miner took third and Kaylee Hollatz was fourth to help the Stratford girls cross country team to a third-place finish at the Athens Invitational on Thursday at Erbach Park.
Miner finished third in 21:01 and Hollatz was fourth in 21:23 as the Tigers had 67 points, just four behind second-place Marathon. Phillips had 29 points to win the girls title.
The Auburndale girls finished fifth. Kali Karl was 12th in 22:15 and Abby Bauer took 14th in 22:43 for the Apaches.
The Stratford boys finished sixth and Auburndale was seventh.
Cody Gehrke was 16th in 19:11 and Carver Empey finished 18th in 19:21 for the Apaches.
Stratford’s top five runners finished in order from 26th through 30th. John Geissinger led the Tigers, finishing 26th in 19:56.
Marathon won the boys team title, with Phillips second.
