Columbus Catholic soccer wins at Wausau Newman Catholic, stays in tie for first in Mid-State

WAUSAU – Ryan Dieringer scored twice to lift the Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team to a 5-1 win over Wausau Newman Catholic on Thursday in a Mid-State Soccer Conference game.

The Dons stay in a first-place tie in the conference with the victory, moving to 10-3-3 overall and 8-1-1 in the Mid-State. Newman is now 7-5 and 5-4 in the MSCC.

Columbus Catholic is tied with McDonell/Regis with two games remaining. The Dons host Stevens Point Pacelli on Monday and play at Northland Lutheran next Thursday.

Will Atkinson and Sean McCarthy each had a goal and an assist, Christian Payant scored a goal and Charles Payant had an assist for Columbus Catholic.

Evan Hansen had two saves and Bailey Keffer had one in goal for the Dons.
