Michalik wins lone match for Columbus tennis

MARSHFIELD – Lucas Michalik had the only win for the Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys tennis team in a 6-1 loss to Wausau Newman Catholic on Monday.

Michalik beat Adam Hoffman 6-3, 6-1 to win at No. 3 singles.

The Dons only took one other match to three sets and lost the other five in straight sets.

Columbus’ No. 3 doubles team of Joe Vaske and Inigo Hormaza lost in three sets to Wayne Schulz and Ben Vesel 4-6, 6-2, 6-0.

Columbus hosts Phillips on Thursday.
