Stratford softball shuts out Auburndale

STRATFORD – The Stratford softball team scored in every inning and Hilary Belter struck out seven, did not walk a batter and allowed just one hit as the Tigers beat Auburndale 10-0 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Monday.

Stacy Brokish had a single for Auburndale’s only hit as the Apaches lost for the fourth straight time to fall to 3-5 and 1-5 in the Marawood South. Stratford improves to 12-1, 6-0 in conference play.

Stratford scored a pair of runs in the first two innings, added single tallies in the third and fourth, and finished off the game with four runs in the fifth inning to win via the 10-run rule.

Kim Masephol walked seven and struck out two for Auburndale, which also committed three errors.

Rachel Ludwig had a hit and three runs scored, and Jenessa Denfeld and Dani Austin each had a hit and two runs scored for the Tigers.

Auburndale is at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Thursday, while Stratford hosts Edgar. Both games start at 4:30 p.m.
