Columbus softball crushes Owen-Withee

OWEN – Victoria Dieringer had 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to help the Marshfield Columbus Catholic softball team to a 15-3 rout of Owen-Withee in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday.

The Dons had just five hits, but took advantage of 16 walks and three errors to roll to the victory and improve to 6-10 overall and 5-8 in the Cloverbelt East. Owen-Withee drops to 4-12 and 3-9 in conference.

Columbus wraps up its regular season Tuesday at Spencer and opens WIAA playoff action Thursday with a Division 4 regional quarterfinal game at Greenwood.

Shawna Rhodes walked twice and scored three times, and four other Columbus players scored twice.

Katelyn Welsh walked one and scattered six hits to earn the win.
