STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield baseball team took a 2-0 lead after the top of the first inning but couldn’t score again and Stevens Point chipped away to beat the Tigers 4-2 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball game Thursday night at Bukolt Park.

Stevens Point scored once in the third, twice in the fourth and once in the fifth inning while holding the Tigers scoreless.

The Panthers pull into a three-way tie for second place in the Valley at 4-2 with D.C. Everest and Wisconsin Rapids, one-half game behind first-place Rhinelander (5-2). Marshfield falls into fifth place at 3-3 with the loss.

Marshfield hosts D.C. Everest on Monday as the two teams resume a game suspended on Tuesday with the Tigers leading 5-1 in the bottom of the first inning.
