GREEN BAY – The Auburndale volleyball team went 3-2 to finish third at the Green Bay East Invitational on Thursday.
Auburndale beat Menasha and Sheboygan Christian, and lost to Green Bay East in pool play. In the semifinals, the Apaches lost to Plymouth, then came back to beat East in a rematch in the third-place match.
Five different Auburndale players had at least 20 digs on defense, led by Georgi Schmutzer with 28 and Madison Krings with 26.
Schmutzer had 74 assists and 13 kills, Katie Helminiak had a team-high 28 kills, Isabelle Hilber had 27 kills, and Natalie Aue had 12 service aces for the Apaches.
Auburndale hosts Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a nonconference match on Tuesday.
