Marshfield freshman football opens season with rout of Wisconsin Rapids

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield freshman football team started the season with a dominating performance, routing Wisconsin Rapids 46-0 on Thursday at Beell Stadium.

Garrett Willuweit had touchdown runs of 22 and 19 points, caught a TD pass from quarterback Trevor Foemmel for 27 yards, and had a two-point conversion.

Foemmel also threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Evan Pretsch, Jeff Marsch had a 36-yard scoring run and two two-point conversions, and Brett Franklin added a 19-yard touchdown run for the Tigers.

Sam Meverden and Luke LeMoine had two-point conversion receptions from Foemmel.

Marshfield’s top tacklers were Isaac Dagit, Franklin, Meverden, Hunter Kelnhofer and Noah Peterson. Franklin and Alex Westlund both intercepted passes, and Carson Matis recovered a fumble for the Marshfield defense.

Marshfield’s next game is Sept. 5 at D.C. Everest at 4 p.m.
