Auburndale girls basketball edges Loyal

AUBURNDALE – Natalie Aue scored 12 of her team-high 17 points in the second half to help the Auburndale girls basketball team to a slim 37-35 win over Loyal in the opening round of the Auburndale Holiday Tournament on Friday afternoon at Auburndale High School.

The game was tied 13-13 at halftime before the Apaches (7-2) were able to eke out the win by outscoring Loyal (6-2) by two in the second half.

Isabelle Hilber was the only other Auburndale player to score more than three points as she had eight, including a 3-pointer in the second half.

Remi Geiger had 16 points to lead the Greyhounds.

Loyal will play Augusta at 1 p.m. on Saturday, with Auburndale taking on Neillsville at 2:30 p.m. as the tournament concludes.
