Stratford boys basketball whips Altoona in semifinals of home tournament

STRATFORD – Six Stratford players scored in double figures as the Tigers rolled to an 87-64 win over Altoona in the semifinals of the Stratford Holiday Tournament on Friday at Stratford High School.

The Tigers led 41-34 at halftime and extended their lead from there.

Stratford shot a sizzling 63 percent (35 of 55) from the floor, connected on six 3-pointers, and made 11 of 15 free throws in the win.

Chandler Schmidt was 7-for-11 from the field and 9-for-12 at the free throw line to score 25 points for the Tigers (5-0).

Teddy Redman added 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals, and Ben Barten had 14 points and nine rebounds for Stratford.

Dawson Danen and Vaughn Breit each chipped in 11 points, and Max Vanderhoof had 10 points for the Tigers.

Stratford will play Wausau East in the championship game Saturday night at 7:15 p.m.
