UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield men’s basketball drops close game at UW-Oshkosh at Fox Cities

MENASHA – The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Marshfield men’s basketball team lost a tight game at UW-Oshkosh at Fox Cities 85-84 on Wednesday night.

Fox Cities led by six at halftime before the Marauders battled back to take a slight lead. The Cyclones responded by pushing the lead to 10 with 2 minutes left before Marshfield battled back.

Ethan Posteluk made two free throws following an intentional foul, and Joey Miller hit a 3-pointer with 25 seconds left, cutting the Marauders’ deficit to two at 84-82.

Fox Cities missed the front end of two-straight one-and-one free throw tries, but the Marauders were unable to capitalize, missing two 3-pointers on one trip and a layup on the next.

The Cyclones (6-5, 4-4 Wisconsin Collegiate Conference) made one free throw with 1.8 seconds left and Colton Wright scored at the buzzer for Marshfield, leaving the Marauders one point short.

Posteluk had 24 points, Miller added 23, and Jack Bezlyk had 13 points for Marshfield. Wright and Joe Fields each added 12 points for the Marauders.

Marshfield (3-6, 3-5 Wisconsin Collegiate Conference) hosts UW-Oshkosh at Fond du Lac on Jan. 15 at 7:15 p.m.
