UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield men’s basketball downs Fond du Lac

MARSHFIELD – The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Marshfield men’s basketball team used a quick start to down UW-Oshkosh at Fond du Lac 92-74 on Wednesday night at the Marauder Gym.

The Marauders (4-6, 4-5 Wisconsin Collegiate Conference) opened up a 16-point lead before Fond du lac switched to a zone defense, causing Marshfield some problems offensively, Marshfield coach Jared Ystad said.

Marshfield led 43-37 going into halftime and Marshfield High School graduate Ethan Posteluk took over for the Marauders, drilling three-straight 3-pointers and their lead quickly went up to 20.

Matthew Roth (Colby), Colton Wright (Auburndale), Jack Bezlyk (Spencer) and Joey Miller (Columbus Catholic) each took turns hitting shots from deep to help the Marauders maintain their lead.

Fond du Lac cut it to 12 at one point, but Marshfield was able to hold on the rest of the way.

Posteluk finished with a season-high 28 points, Wright added 21, Bezlyk chipped in with 14 points and Miller had 10 for the Marauders.

Marshfield returns to action Friday at 1:30 p.m. against UW-Green Bay at Marinette. The game will be played at the Champions Center in Appleton.
