Numerous area players selected to play in state football all-star games

The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association have announced rosters for the 2020 WFCA All-Star Games, which will be played Saturday, July 18, at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh.

The Eight-Player Game will be at 10 a.m., the Small School Game at 1:30 p.m., and the Large School Game at 5 p.m. on July 18.

The games pit graduated seniors from the North and South regions for the annual contests.

Marshfield High School head coach Denny Goettl will lead the North squad in the Large School game, and will get one final chance to coach his son, Joey.

Joey Goettl and Dustin Altmann, both defensive backs, will represent Marshfield on the North roster. Wisconsin Rapids offensive lineman Matt Schooley, Wausau West linebacker Marc Sippel, and Medford linebacker Ean Wilson were also selected to the North team.

Marshfield coaches Randy Hartwig and Ryan Brandt, and Ted Wilson of Medford will serve as assistants for Goettl on the North sideline.

Five area schools will be represented on the North team in the Small School game.

Stratford tight end Vaughn Breit and linebacker Justin Schoenherr, Abbotsford linebacker Blake Draper and defensive back Dalton Feddick, Edgar linebacker Kaleb Hafferman, defensive lineman Ethan Heil and tight end/kicker Austin Miller, Colby defensive lineman Connor Jeske, and Amherst offensive lineman Nic Dombrowski and linebacker Aidan Elwood were all selected to the Small School North team.

Amherst coach Mark Lusic and Abbotsford coach Jake Knapmiller, will serve as assistant coaches to North head coach Chad Hanson of Altoona.
