Spencer boys basketball drops home game to Athens

SPENCER – Spencer senior Austin Bacon surpassed the 1,000-point plateau for his career, but the Rockets lost its regular-season home finale to Athens 74-60 on Monday night.

Bacon scored 15 points and now has 1,003 points for his varsity career.

Brett Kasch had a game-high 25 points for Spencer, which falls to 16-5 this season.

Cameron Ford had 19 points, Cooper Diedrich added 15 and Javon Penney scored 12 for Athens (15-6).

Spencer wraps up its regular-season schedule on Saturday. The Rockets will play in the second-place game of the Cloverbelt Conference crossovers against Thorp at Altoona High School at 1 p.m. The game will be live-streamed on zaleskisports.com/live-sports.
