Marshfield Chaparrals baseball runs record to 3-0 with win over Everest

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Chaparrals amateur baseball team improved to 3-0 this season with a 6-3 win over the Everest Merchants on Wednesday night at Jack Hackman Field.

Caleb Krommenakker allowed two runs in seven innings, striking out eight, to earn the victory for the Chaps. Hunter Korger struck out the side in the eighth, allowing one run, before Kade Lancour slammed the door in the ninth to grab a save.

Marshfield struck first with a run in the bottom of the opening inning. Leadoff hitter Nathan Krommenakker walked, went to second on errant throw over to first, cruised to third on a groundout and scored on Donavon Brandl’s groundout to make to 1-0.

The Chaparrals busted the game open in the fourth, scoring five times.

Will Lee and Nathan Krommenakker had RBI singles, Isaiah Baierl scored on a wild pitch, and Nick Anderson and Nathan Krommenakker both scored on an error to give Marshfield a 6-0 lead.

That score held until the seventh when Everest scored twice on an RBI double by Brady Sendelbach and an RBI single by Wade Farmer.

Jon Breske had an RBI single in the eighth to cut the Chaps’ lead to 6-3, but Marshfield was able to hold on from there.

The Chaparrals will take to the road for the first time this season, playing at Minocqua on Sunday at noon. The game will be broadcast at zaleskisports.com/live-sports.
