Dominant second half pushes Columbus Catholic soccer past Northland Lutheran

KRONENWETTER – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team scored four goals in the second half to pull away and defeat Northland Lutheran 5-1 in a Central Wisconsin Conference match on Monday.

Following a scoreless opening 40 minutes, Northland Lutheran’s Devin Pahl scored at the 41:38 mark to give the Wildcats the lead.

Kellen Delaney responded with a goal on a penalty kick 1½ minutes later for the Dons to tie it before halftime.

The second half belonged to Columbus Catholic.

Delaney, Jadon Nienast, Charlie Moore and Cy Becker all scored in a 24-minute span for the Dons to push them to their first conference win of the saond.

Goalkeeper Wyatt Drexler had six saves for the Dons in the win.

Columbus Catholic improves to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the CWC. The Dons will play at Wausau Newman Catholic on Tuesday before hosting Gresham/Bowler on Thursday.
