Wausau West sends Marshfield boys hockey to first conference loss

MARSHFIELD – Wausau West scored four times in the third period to pull away and defeat Marshfield 6-1 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys hockey game Tuesday at the Marshfield Ice Arena.

Grant Halmstad had a hat trick for West, which is now 3-0 overall and in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Seth Peterson scored off assists from Sawyer Schindler and Payton Smith for Marshfield’s only goal 3:04 in the third period.

Marshfield falls to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in the Valley. The Tigers will play at Tomahawk at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
