Auburndale boys basketball pulls away to rout Weyauwega-Fremont

AUBURNDALE – Auburndale held Weyauwega-Fremont to just 10 points in the second half and rolled to an 81-42 win in the opening round of the Auburndale Holiday Boys Basketball Tournament on Monday night at Auburndale High School.

Auburndale led 40-32 at halftime before clamping down defensively in the second half, holding Weyauwega-Fremont (2-6) to just 10 points and three made baskets.

Offensively, the Eagles didn’t miss a beat after intermission, putting up 41 points to win going away.

Hunter Wright scored 24 points, and Alex Willfahrt and Mason White Eagle each had 14 points for Auburndale, which shot 58 percent from the field, making 33 of 57 shots.

Quinn Dittmann led Weyauwega-Fremont with 23 points.

Auburndale (5-2) will play Neillsville (4-1) in the tournament championship game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The game will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com/live-sports.
