Assumption stymies Spencer girls basketball

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Spencer was held to four made baskets and dropped a nonconference game to Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 50-22 on Monday at Assumption High School.

The Rockets made just two baskets in each half as Assumption clamped down defensively. The Royals did commit 28 fouls and Spencer was able to get to the free throw line 30 times. However, the Rockets made just 14 and couldn’t keep pace.

Amber Becker scored seven points and Heavyn Kind had six for Spencer, which falls to 6-6.

Jessie Grundoffer paced Assumption (3-5) with 16 points.

Assumption will play a nonconference game at Rhinelander on Tuesday. Spencer is off until Jan. 5 when it returns to Cloverbelt Conference East Division action at Granton.
