Auburndale boys basketball pulls past Neillsville to win home holiday tournament

AUBURNDALE – Schuyler Gilhausen scored 23 points to lead five Auburndale players in double figures and the Eagles went on to a 77-62 win over Neillsville in the championship game of the Auburndale Boys Basketball Holiday Tournament on Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.

Gilhausen made five 3-pointers as Auburndale finished with nine long balls in all.

Carl Lundgren added 15 points, Alex Willfahrt and Hunter Wright each scored 12 points, and Mason White Eagle chipped in 11 points for the Eagles, who improve to 6-2.

Braden Trunkel scored 20 points and Drew Brown added 17 for Neillsville, which drops to 4-2.

Auburndale plays at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in a Marawood Conference South Division game on Monday. Neillsville returns to action Jan. 5 at Alma Center Lincoln.
