Stratford boys basketball knocks off Wausau East

STRATFORD – Cody Miller scored 21 points, making all 10 of his free throw attempts, to help lift the Stratford boys basketball team to a 64-50 win over Wausau East in the opening round of the Stratford Holiday Tournament on Tuesday at Stratford High School.

Zack Seitz added 10 points and six rebounds, and Jake Skroch had nine points and six rebounds for the Tigers (2-3).

Stratford led 31-20 at halftime and was able to hold on in the second half.

Stratford finished 22 of 33 from the free throw line to overcome a 34 percent shooting performance from the field (19 of 55).

Stratford will play Wittenberg-Birnamwood for the tournament championship at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. W-B beat Bangor 51-48 in the other semifinal Tuesday. Bangor will take on Wausau East at 5:45 p.m.
