Auburndale boys basketball suffers road loss at first-place Edgar

EDGAR – The Edgar boys basketball team took a huge step toward a Marawood Conference South Division championship with a 61-50 win over Auburndale on Tuesday night at Edgar High School.

Edgar pulled out to a 35-29 lead by halftime and outscored Auburndale by five in the second half to finish off the win.

Edgar is now 15-2 overall and 11-1 in the Marawood South, opening up a two-game cushion over Auburndale (13-4, 10-3 Marawood South) in the conference standings with three Marawood games remaining in the season.

Brayden Baumgartner scored 19 points, Kyle Brewster added 14, and Konnor Wolf chipped in 12 for the Wildcats.

Hunter Wright scored 14 points and Carl Lundgren had 12 for Auburndale.

Both teams will return to action Friday with Marawood crossover games on the road. Auburndale will be at Prentice and Edgar will play at Phillips.
