Marshfield piles up nine wins in rain-shortened home track triangular

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield High School hosted a triangular track and field meet on Tuesday against Wausau West and Merrill.

The meet was stopped due to a thunderstorm following the boys 400 meters and was not resumed.

With eight events final, Wausau West and Marshfield tied for the girls team title with 39 points, and Merrill finished with 15 points. The Marshfield boys finished with 38 points, Wausau West had 30 and Merrill had 11.

Winners for the Marshfield girls were: Sophie Nikolay in the long jump (15 feet, 3 inches) and the pole vault (10-5 1/4), Aubri Brown in the shot put (33-9), Meghan Jaeger in the 1,600 meters (5:52.90), and the 800-meter relay team of Tayllor Thompson, Leah Brown, Ellie Jensen and Michaela Dick (1:52.38). Nikolay’s mark in the pole vault was a new facility record.

Wyatt LeMoine won the boys triple jump with a leap of 42-6¾, Trevor Foemmel took first in the discus (134-2) and the 100 meters (17.36 seconds), and Jeffrey Marsh won the 100 in 11.84 seconds for Marshfield.

The Marshfield boys will compete at the D.C. Everest Relays on Thursday, and the girls will travel to the Wisconsin Valley Conference True Team Meet at Wausau East on Thursday.
