Thorp/Gilman send Columbus Catholic baseball to home defeat

MARSHFIELD – Thorp/Gilman scored eight times in the fourth inning to erase a three-run lead and went on to defeat Columbus Catholic 14-4 in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at Jack Hackman Field.

Jack Syryczuk hit a home run and had three RBIs, and Gavin Boie had two hits and five RBIs for Thorp/Gilman (13-6).

The Dons were held to five hits. Jadon Nienast and Cy Becker had RBIs for Columbus.

Columbus Catholic (12-9) will host Pittsville in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal Tuesday at Jack Hackman Field beginning at 7:30 p.m. The game will be live at zaleskisports.com.
