Marshfield Junior Legion baseball eliminated at 17U regional by Wausau

STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team saw its season come to an end with a 10-7 loss to Wausau in an elimination game at the 17U Legion regional on Sunday at Bukolt Park.

Marshfield led 5-1 after a four-run third inning before Wausau plated five runs in the fourth and added three more in the fifth to pull away.

Ben Dietsche had a two-run single, Sloan Welch had a sacrifice fly and Xane Adler walked with the bases loaded in the third to give the Junior Devils their 5-1 lead.

Marshfield’s pitching couldn’t hold up, however, as the Bulldogs scored nine unanswered runs.

Brock Bennington added a two-run single in the sixth inning for Marshfield’s final runs.

Bennett Lang, Brady Schmidt and Braden Anderson each had two hits for Marshfield.

The Junior Devils end their season with a 10-14 record.
