Marshfield to host Legion baseball regional July 21-24

MARSHFIELD – Jack Hackman Field will be the host to a Class AAA American Legion Baseball regional tournament this week.

Marshfield Post 54 will host teams from Stevens Point Post 6, Wisconsin Rapids Post 9, Plover Post 543, Wausau Post 10 and D.C. Everest Area Post 492 for a double-elimination tournament from Wednesday, July 21, through Saturday, July 24.

Games are scheduled for 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday, with the championship game at 1 p.m. Saturday. A second game, if necessary, would immediately follow if both teams remaining have one loss.

Stevens Point (11-6) will play Wisconsin Rapids (9-2) in the regional opener at 1 p.m. Wednesday, with Plover (14-8) and D.C. Everest to follow at 4 p.m. Host Marshfield (11-9) will take on Wausau (13-12) at 7 p.m.

Plover will host the Wisconsin American Legion Baseball Class AAA State Tournament from July 28-31 at Memorial Park and will be in the field as the home team. The Marshfield regional champion, or the second-place team if Plover were to win, will advance to the state tournament.
