Columbus Catholic soccer finishes 2-1 at CWC Crusader Kickoff

WAUPUN – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic soccer team opened its 2021 season going 2-1 at the Central Wisconsin Christian Crusader Kickoff on Friday and Saturday.

The Dons defeated Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran 5-3 on Friday, and shut out St. Mary Catholic 2-0 on Saturday. Columbus lost to Lake Mills 10-1.

Alex Edwards scored twice, and Grant Olson and Sammy Neville had goals in the win over N.E.W. Lutheran. The Dons also scored on an own goal.

The Dons scored on an own goal in the first half and Grant Olson scored in the 59th minute to provide the 2-0 margin against St. Mary’s.

Edwards scored Columbus’ only goal in the loss to Lake Mills.

The Dons host Amherst in their Central Wisconsin Conference opener on Monday at 5 p.m. at Griese Park.
