Auburndale boys basketball wins tournament opener over Weyauwega-Fremont

AUBURNDALE – Three Auburndale players scored in double figures as the Eagles defeated Weyauwega-Fremont 65-51 in its opening game at its home Auburndale Boys Basketball Holiday Tournament on Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.

Alex Willfahrt had 17 points and seven rebounds, Caden Weinfurter scored 15 points, and Terrance Cottrell-Roberson made three 3-pointers and added 11 points for Auburndale, which snapped a four-game losing skid and improves to 2-6 this season.

Quinn Dittmann had 24 points for Weyauwega-Fremont (5-4), which also lost its opening game in the three-team round-robin tournament on Monday.

Auburndale will host Neillsville for the tournament title at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The game will be live at zaleskisports.com.
