Superior rallies late to top Marshfield girls basketball in Marshfield Invite title game

MARSHFIELD – Superior pushed back after an early second-half run by Marshfield and defeated the Tigers 53-48 in the championship game of the Marshfield Girls Basketball Invitational on Wednesday afternoon at Marshfield High School.

Emma Raye had 16 points, Eva Petersen added 14 and Savannah Leopold chipped in 11 for Superior, which improves to 10-1 this season. The Spartans made nine 3-pointers in the win.

Superior led 23-20 at halftime before Marshfield surged ahead midway through the second half, leading by as much as seven. The Spartans rallied to regain the lead and made enough free throws at the end to hold off Marshfield.

Dani Minsaas had 16 points for Marshfield (5-5).

Marshfield hosts Eau Claire Memorial for a nonconference game Tuesday. The game will be live at zaleskisports.com.
