WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Hanna Merkel finished second in the all-around and had three top-three finishes to pace the Marshfield gymnastics team to a second-place finish at the Charlie Martin Invitational on Saturday at Lincoln High School.
Mukwonago/Kettle Moraine won the team title with 135.7 points, edging Marshfield (135.1) by less than one point. Wisconsin Rapids was third with 128.325 points.
Jenna Konitzer of Mukwonago/Kettle Moraine won the vault (9.3), uneven bars (8.875) and balance beam (9.2) to earn the all-around title with 36.475 points. Merkel was second with 34.7 and Ellie Jensen finished third for the Tigers with 34.1 points.
Merkel was second in the uneven bars (8.55), and third in the vault (8.8) and balance beam (8.625). Jensen added top-five finishes in three events, tying for third in the uneven bars (8.1), and taking fourth in the beam (8.6) and the floor (8.95).
The Marshfield JV team won the team title with 120.95 points, just ahead of second-place Wisconsin Rapids (116.2).
Abby Pietsch won the uneven bars (7.55), Ashley Jaeger was first in the balance beam (7.8), and Phoebe Hernandez won the floor exercise (8.4) for the Tigers.
