Stratford girls basketball loses home game to Marathon

STRATFORD – Marathon outscored Stratford by eight points in the second half to pull away and defeat the Tigers 38-29 in a Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball game Thursday night at Stratford High School.

Marathon led 15-14 at halftime before busting open the tight game in the second half.

Allison Wokatsch scored 13 points to lead Marathon (9-7, 7-4 Marawood South).

Stratford shot just 27 percent (12-for-45) in the loss, falling to 8-10 overall and 4-7 in the Marawood South. Bailey Linzmaier and Kalyn Schueller each had six points for the Tigers.

Marathon improves to 9-7 overall and 7-4 in the Marawood South, while Stratford drops to 8-10 and 4-7 in the conference.

Stratford hosts Crandon for a nonconference game Monday. The game will be live-streamed at zaleskisports.com.
