FOND DU LAC – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball team kicked off its season with a pair of losses at the UW-Fond du Lac Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

The Marauders lost to UW-Fond du Lac 76-38 on Friday and Western Technical College of La Crosse 80-62 on Saturday in the third-place game.

“This was the Marauders’ first contests of the year so first game jitters and having only six available players for the game caused some problems,” UW-Marshfield coach Lori Galetka said. “It was hard to keep players fresh.”

Paige Albrecht had 18 points and six steals and Karlee Rosentreter had 10 rebounds to lead the Marauders in the first game.

The Marauders led by 12 points in the first half and were tied at halftime against Western Tech. In the second half, UW-Marshfield ran out of gas, Galetka said.

“We played much better today all the way around,” Galetka added. “This early tourney
is always a good test for us.”

Albrecht had 27 points to lead all scorers. Kayla Fleischmann chipped in 13 points and Rosentreter had 10 rebounds for the Marauders.

The Marauders host UW-Washington County on Saturday, Nov. 13 at noon.
