Iola-Scandinavia slips past Stratford in Division 4 girls basketball regional semifinal

IOLA – Iola-Scandinavia made 25 of 49 free throws and held on for a 45-39 win over Stratford in a WIAA Division 4 girls basketball regional semifinal Friday night at Iola-Scandinavia High School.

The game was tight throughout as the Thunderbirds led by one at halftime and were able to finish off the win at the free throw line.

Stratford committed 28 fouls and Iola-Scandinavia scored more than half of its points at the line in the victory.

Jaelyn Sivertson scored 17 points and Madeline Much added 13 for Iola-Scandinavia (15-9), which moves on to a regional final at Auburndale on Saturday at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live at zaleskisports.com.

Lauren Kraus had 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead Stratford, which finishes the season with a 12-13 record.
