Auburndale baseball shuts out Spencer

SPENCER – Sloan Welch had four hits and two RBI, and Aden Cherney threw a four-hit shutout as the Auburndale baseball team defeated Spencer 11-0 in a nonconference game Saturday afternoon at Spencer High School.

Welch finished 4-for-4 with three doubles and three runs scored to pace the Auburndale offense.

Cherney scattered four hits in the six-inning complete game, striking out six and walking just one for the Eagles (4-3).

Caleb Rucker had two of Spencer’s four hits. The Rockets fall to 1-4.

Spencer plays a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game at Loyal on Monday. Auburndale will play at Wausau Newman Catholic in a Marawood South game on Tuesday.
