Auburndale softball pounds Spencer for first win of season

SPENCER – Auburndale scored in all six of its at-bats and rolled to a 16-3 win over Spencer in a nonconference softball game Saturday at Spencer High School.

Auburndale plated four runs in the top of the first inning, and after Spencer struck for three in the bottom half, was able to shut out the Rockets the rest of the way.

Ashlyn Grimm tossed four shutout innings in relief with eight strikeouts to pick up the win.

Mya Krings had three hits, including two triples, and drove in two runs, and Samantha Stanton and Josie Ertl each had three RBI for Auburndale (1-3).

Heavyn Kind had a two-run triple for Spencer (0-4).

Spencer hosts Stratford for a nonconference game Monday at 5 p.m. Auburndale will play a Marawood Conference South Division game at Edgar on Monday at 4:45 p.m.
