MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield baseball team dropped its regular-season finale, falling 9-2 to Tomah in a nonconference game Friday at Safford Field.

Marshfield led 2-1 after an RBI double by Mason Pavloski and a fielder’s choice RBI from Ben Dietsche in the bottom of the second innings.

The Tigers’ pitching couldn’t hold, however, as Tomah (10-15) responded with three runs in the top of the third and added runs in each of the next three innings as well.

Carson Matis took the loss, giving up nine runs – only four earned – in 5 1/3 innings.

Marshfield (3-22) will play a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal at Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
