Marshfield Junior Legion baseball grabs comeback win over Merrill

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn a 7-5 comeback win on Thursday at Jack Hackman Field.

Merrill led 5-2 before the Junior Devils rallied with the big sixth inning to snag the win and improve to 4-9 this summer.

Vance Kielman had an RBI single, and Chase Robinson hit a bases-loaded triple to clear the bases and scored on a groundout by Sloan Welch to give Marshfield a 7-5 lead.

Aden Cherney picked up the win for the Junior Devils, throwing three shutout innings in relief of Ian Brown and Mitchell Schade.

Marshfield will compete at the Antigo Tournament this weekend starting with a game against the host team Antigo at 8 p.m. Friday.
