Marshfield Junior Legion loses tournament opener to Antigo

ANTIGO – The Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team dropped its opening game of the weekend Antigo Tournament to host Antigo 10-3 on Friday night.

Antigo scored four times in the third inning, and after Marshfield crept closer with a three-run fifth, the host team responded with six in the bottom of the frame to open up the big lead.

Jacob Sadowska, Aden Cherney and Ian Brown each had two hits, and Zander Edmundson drove in all three of the Junior Devils’ runs with a bases-clearing double for Marshfield (4-10).

Sloan Welch suffered the loss for Marshfield, giving up five runs in four innings.

Marshfield will play Ashwaubenon at 1 p.m. and Fond du Lac at 7 p.m. on Saturday as the tournament continues.
