AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale football team had little trouble in its season opener as it crushed Menominee Indian 76-0 in a nonconference matchup Friday night at Auburndale High School.
Auburndale scored five touchdowns in the first quarter and added two more in the second to take a commanding 49-0 lead by halftime.
Quarterback Trayton Weber finished with 93 rushing yards and two touchdowns, and completed his only pass of the game to Alex Willfahrt for a 32-yard touchdown pass 2½ minutes into the game.
Blake Raab added 68 yards and Colten Weiler chipped in 64 rushing yards, both scoring touchdowns, as Auburndale piled up 352 yards on the ground.
Auburndale held Menominee Indian to minus-30 yards total.
Auburndale will play a nonconference game at Prentice against Rib Lake/Prentice next Friday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m.
