Marshfield girls golf finishes second at first leg of WVC Tournament

WAUSAU – All five Marshfield golfers finished in the top 10 as the Tigers placed second at the opening leg of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Golf Tournament series on Wednesday at Trapp River Golf Course.

Wausau East/West won the team title with a score of 186, with Marshfield three strokes behind with a 189. Stevens Point took third with a 193, Wisconsin Rapids was fourth with a 214 and D.C. Everest fifth with a 233.

Riley Pechinski of Stevens Point was meet medalist with a 39, one shot ahead of Talia Schlindwein of East/West. Stevens Point’s Ava Drederiksen was third with a 41.

Lily Anaya tied for fourth with a 46, Shylah Brogan was seventh with a 47, McKenzie Holm and Brielle Lenz tied for eighth with 48s, and Raina Manlick tied for 10th with a 49 for Marshfield.

The second leg of the tournament is Monday at Crane Meadows Golf Course in Wausau.
