Stratford boys, girls both finish second at Mosinee Cross Country Invite

RIB MOUNTAIN – Stratford placed second in both the boys and girls standings at the Mosinee Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at Nine Mile Recreation Area.

Lakeland won the boys title with 47 points, 16 points ahead of Stratford and Medford. Medford was the girls team champion with 46 points, well ahead of runner-up Stratford, which had 82 points.

Spencer also competed at the meet, but didn’t field complete teams.

Owen Clark of Lakeland won the boys race in 17:06, 22 seconds in front of Tanner Hraby of Medford.

Cree DeFoe placed fifth (18:11), Lance Krieg was 11th (19:01), Garrett Zuelke took 17th (19:39), Ethan Heeg was 19th (20:08), and Mathias Kaiser finished 21st (20:30) for Stratford.

Breckin Miller was the Spencer boys top runner, finishing 58th in 26:33.

Nora Gremban of Northland Pines won the girls race in 18:37, exactly one minute ahead of runner-up Merecit Richter of Medford.

Kayla Casperson led Stratford by placing fourth in 20:52, and Breleigh Skaya also placed 10th in 22:10. Ella Heidmann was 12th (22:24), Kressa Wenzel finished 28th (23:51), and Haley Woodford took 32nd (24:41) to round out the Tigers’ scoring.

Zaprina Bulla Ruiz took 42nd (26:03) and Kaydence Plaskay was 66th (28:09) for the Spencer girls.

Spencer will compete at the Columbus Catholic Invitational on Saturday, and both Spencer and Stratford will take part in the Marshfield Tiger Invitational on Sept. 6. Both races will be at Wildwood Park.
