LOYAL – Isaac Scheer finished second and Andrew Scheer was third in the boys race as Marshfield Columbus Catholic placed third in the team standings at the Loyal/Greenwood Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at Loyal High School.
Bloomer, behind meet champion Lucas Anderson (16:57) and three other top-10 finishers, won the boys team title with 34 points, well ahead of second-place Chippewa Falls McDonell (54). Columbus Catholic was third with 124 points.
Isaac Scheer finished in 17:24, 27 seconds off the lead, with Andrew Scheer taking third in 17:36. Zack Christensen finished 28th in 20:48 as well for the Dons.
The Columbus Catholic girls had only four runners and didn’t figure in the team standings, which was won by Colby with 59 points. Fall Creek was second with 70.
Shaylie Zarza of Thorp/Gilman won the girls race in 20:34, 29 seconds in front of runner-up Jenna Anders of Fall Creek.
Columbus Catholic’s Sam Casperson was 31st (26:34), Jenny Schneider was 47th (27:23) and Katelyn Casperson took 48th (27:32).
Columbus Catholic hosts its annual invitational on Saturday at Wildwood Park in Marshfield.
