RIB MOUNTAIN – The Auburndale boys cross country team finished fifth at the 13-team Marathon Invitational on Thursday at Nine Mile Recreation Area.
Athens, behind boys champion Connor Sheahan (17:11.5), won the team title with 38 points as it had three top-10 finishes in all.
Charles Jewell led Auburndale, taking seventh in 19:02.0, with teammate Mason White Eagle finishing 12th in 19:35.0. Alex Mikes was 37th (21:29.6), Sawyer Cherney took 39th (21:33.0), and Adam Kundinger was 42nd (21:39.1) to round out the Eagles’ scoring.
Tomahawk won the girls team title with 30 points, with Wisconsin Rapids Assumption second with 78. Rory Salveson of Wittenberg-Birnamwood won the girls race in 21:12.6, 13 seconds ahead of Three Lakes.
Auburndale will compete at the Marshfield Invitational at Wildwood Park on Tuesday.
